November 2006

Off to the Williamsburg. Worked on repairing broken windows all day. Warmer today. It is finally a quite day.

Paul Collies sister Claire is in town from Ireland with her good man Brian. They will be leaving in a couple of days. Tonight is the only time I will get to see them so at 7:15 pm I left my quite day behind and headed out. I met Carmen as I was leaving. I told her of my intentions. She said she wouldn’t be over for tea tonight since I wouldn’t be back. I told her I would be back in an hour or so. Great she will keep an eye out for me.

I arrived over to the Collies and walked in. Met Brian Moroney first. A nice fellow by first impression. Then Claire. Wow! I remember when she was a young girl growing up in Ireland and now she is a beautiful woman. Really beautiful. Out came the tea and treats. We talked about every one back home and people I haven’t heard about for years. More tea and treats. More chat and finally it was time for me to bid a good bye. I had a very enjoyable evening and I really enjoyed their company. I like Brian a lot too. He has a good sense of humor. I got out to me ole car fifteen minutes after midnight.

Today I ventured off to work. Braved the snow and ice. The news was going on about “November To Remember” We had a record rain fall, awful strong winds and now the snow and ice. I frigging love it. I was working outside for a bit and my fingers were freezing and my toodies too for that matter. I then had to go down to White Cap for building supplies. Got warm in my truck. After coming back I worked in the heated walkways repairing windows.
Went to Blue-C-Sushi for dinner. Met a guy there who I knew at the Owl and Thistle. Royal, I have met him on and off throughout the years at different places. Went to QFC for a few provisions. Met Eileen there. She is so nice. She wants to arrange a get together for the new year. Picked up milk for Carmen.
Back home and wrote most of the ole Christmas cards.

Woke up to the news on channel 4 or 5. They were trying to terrify people from going to work. The roads had an inch of ice. Abandoned cars all over and people sitting in their vehicles still stuck in traffic from last nights Seahawk game. I think there was a song called November Snow. I’m not sure.  All the stations were putting people off from going outside. Ok I will stay at home. I watched the movie “Luther”

I liked it. A piece of history.

After that I went over to Home Depot and bought some under cabinet lights. Came back home ran the wire from the attic down to a switch and out along to the lights which I mounted under the cabinets.

3:52 pm
Just got through looking at the movie “Down In The Valley”

I thought the movie was ok enough. 5 out of 10.

As of Monday the war in Iraq has lasted longer than World War II.

9:35 pm
Relaxed some more then what the hell I have a couple more unwatched dvds so I stuck one in.
The Three Burials Of Melquiades Estrada

And I liked this one too. Not bad for the day of rest.

The song I was trying to remember in the morning was November Rain by Axl Rose.

Left the snowy streets and headed over to Renton to Williamsburg. I built a snowman on the hood of my car and Paul put two stick arms on him. Installed dens glass for most of the day. A bit of wiring. Lost the snowman turning onto the 405 North. Beat the traffic home.
Snow pouring down again now.

Oh, the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And I was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind

In a lonely shack by a railroad track
I spent my younger days
And I guess the sound of the outward bound
Made me a slave to my wand’ring ways

And the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And I was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind

Oh I met a girl in a border town
I vowed we’d never part
Tho’ I tried my best to settle down
She’s now alone with a broken heart

And the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And I was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind
The next of kin to the wayward wind

Oh, the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind

In a lonely shack by a railroad track
He spent his younger days
And I guess the sound of the outward bound
Made him a slave to his wand’rin ways

Oh, I met him there in a border town
He vowed we’d never part
Tho’ he tried his best to settle down
Now I’m alone with a broken heart

The next of kin to the wayward wind.

Got up and chatted with Joyce and Barry for a while before they left. Then over to the Sunlight Cafe for breakfast. Ate a fine meal and then off like two squirrels gathering nuts for the winter ahead. Well we went off to Costco, Home Depot, Pier 1, Sears, Swansons and Fred Meyers to get some shite for the Christmas. We went to a Restaurant called the Wayward Cafe for lunch. My friend John Gilmore told us about it and said we should give it a try so here we are. Had the vegan Philly Steak Sandwich. It was ok I guess. I will have to go back one more time to make my mind up. Cheap and out the door we go.

Back home start putting up the Christmas shite. The snow is falling outside and we have the Celtic Women Christmas cd on the stereo. It is beginning to feel like Christmas already. Got the tree up and a lot of other stuff too. After three hours of decorating it was time for dinner. We left with our living room lit up like Las Vegas. The roads are covered with snow and we slide along the streets. We go down to the Taste Of India. It is always good in here. Always a hand shake and free dessert from the owner.

Back up along the snow streets we go to our Castle. Coming down along our streets the power is off. The snow must have taken a branch down onto the wires. We arrive inside in the dark. I chop up a few logs and get the fire raging. Candles are lit and we are back to half normal. Me ole computer here will be good for a couple of hours with the battery.

Up and on goes the tea.
I have a full blast shower with the Ojon shampoo and conditioner. Raspberry Sorbet for the body wash and I go downstairs on air after leaving the spa.
Of all the American homes I have entered in the USA. Joyce and Barry’s have the best hospitality. Always a great welcome and loads of food. Reminds me of Ireland. Speaking about Ireland let me take you on a walk down memory lane today with my visit to Cicely Alaska.

I liked the movie.

Joyce and Barry arrived in to see this with us. They came over to run some errands and will stay tonight with us.
We eat the dinner at home.

Down stairs and on goes the tea. After a while the house slowly comes alive. We head over to Ellensburg and do a bit of shopping for Christmas. We have lunch at the “Yellow Church Cafe”  http://www.yellowchurchcafe.com/
It is nice here.  As we come back towards Roslyn the snow is coming down more and more.

We get back to the nice warm home. Then Natasha and I head off out for a drive in the BRRRRRRRRRRRR snowy wildereness. It gets deeper and colder as we head up past the town of Ronald.

I get out of the Jeep for a run to warm up.

Back into the Jeep and back to the house. We have another dinner. I eat a whole pile of the pumpkin pie. It’s the best I have ever eaten. I’m still trying to prove the new survey wrong.
We watch the movie “Take The Lead”
