October 2006

Off to the Point West. Worked on odds and ends all day. Went to Safeway for lunch. Picked up some materials for the laundry room down stairs on the way home. When I was coming along Northgate Way some fellow tried to get in front of me and hit the side of me truck. We pulled in to the parking lot. There was a very slight scratch on my front bumper but his door was wrecked.  I had to call the cops as requested by our company. They will be here soon. I talked to Victor the agent for the other fellows insurance. He said that his driver admitted fault and they would pay for the repair on my truck. The police man came along. He let me know that the fellow had admitted his fault and if I wanted the cop to write a report he would have to ticket the fellow for a driving infraction. I figured the poor fellow had enough and I said no report needed. Shook hands and got on with our day.
Went to Whole Foods for dinner. I am wrecked tired as I watched the rest of the movie “Paradise Now” until after midnight again this morning.
PN_onesheet1.jpg
It was a good movie.

After dinner I came home and called my friend Lynn. She is off to New Zealand on Saturday.

Began watching Paradise Now on the DVD after midnight and fell asleep on the couch until 4:15am or so. Got up showered went out washed my truck and headed off to work at the Pointe West. I worked like a lunatic up until 11:45. I am doing 90% of the work here and when I hear Scott talking on the phone to Mark, he says we are doing whatever. It should be Donal is doing. Feck. At 11:45 I head over to Salty’s to meet Ben. Terry pulls up before me. Out we get. In and seated waiting for Ben. Terry tells me of his latest adventures. Ben comes along. They congratulate me on working here for ten years and give me a gift of a watch engraved on the back to mark the occasion. I have a great spinach salad. My first raw spinach since the ecoli outbreak a few weeks ago. We chat and joke for awhile. Then we have to face back into the real world again. I call Emily to thank her for my gift from yesterday. Kris is in the car and I let her know to thank him also. Back to work again and work but not like a lunatic anymore.
I head out and make it home for Natasha to pick me up. We go on over to Oaktree and see the movie “The Prestige”.
One-Sheet_jpg1.jpg

I am not entirely sure why but I liked the movie. I was tired and a little fecked during it. Maybe that’s why I liked it. Anyway go out and see it.
We stop off at Qdoba for dinner. I call Dave the Queers daughter. Tiff tells me his service will be at St. Lukes at 10:30am on Halloween day.
She is holding strong.
Carmen comes over with some treats. Tea and a chat.

As we were up in Orcas I got a message from Tiffany Mitchell and one from Susann S. and one from Bruce M. I decided to call Bruce back and we
chatted for a long time. He let me know they came by my house last night for a visit but I was not there. He said there was a  UPS package on my door step. I will get it when I get back. And sure enough it’s there. It is from Kris and Em. Inside is the check for our expenses from the trip to Ireland last month.
They gave me two dvd’s that we talked about in Ireland. “Everything Is Illuminated” and “Paradise Now” They are great people and I hope to take many
more trips with them. We travel well together and I love their daughter Caitlyn to death.

I had to get gas in my truck for tomorrow so I went up to the 76. I returned my call to Susanne S. Yes Her daughter can stay over here on Saturday night. No problem.

I then returned Tiffany Mitchell’s call. I hadn’t talked to her for a long time but she was jealous that I got to talk with Charlie Watts and Keith Richards at the Stones concert during the week. She has always liked Charlie.  She answered and I go rambling on like usual. When I ask her how she is doing she said not so good actually. Her father dropped dead over the week end of a heart attack. I was so shocked my fucking heart ached. I have talked and met Dave a few times a week for years and years. I have given him blarney for years. He is a good friend. I tell Tiff if she needs anything call me and to keep me posted with news of  the service.  I get out of the truck at home weakened by the news. Carmen is outside and gives me a hug when I tell her the news. I come in and tell Natasha the news of Dave the Queers death.  I call Paul F. and let him know. He thinks I am only joking. I get over the shock after a bit o time. I will really miss the old fucker.
Carmen comes by later for a visit. Cups of tea and a chat.

I wake up early again. This time I have the girls from last night in my head. I am wondering which one I would choose for my wife. I rule out one even tough I tought about her a bit. Of course I will never see any of them again.   Cup o tea and some crosswords and I am ready for my last and final dip. Over we go. The tubs are not open yet. We go for a walk up the trail. Look into some empty yurts and domes. Stroll down to the beach.

We come back and the tubs are open. Tog off and in we go to soak up the waters heat. I take the cold plunge and back to the hot again. After a while we head down for breakfast. The same waitress is here. She is very pleasent. Her sister works here too. Meet some of the people from the weekend having breakfast too. They give us their e-mails and phone numbers. We say our good byes and one last look out to sea.

Load up the car and head for the ferry.. We grab a cup of tea and a muffin at the store there. I walk down along the dock.

We get on the ferry and go upstairs for the crossing. After a while I begin to see people who were back in the tubs over the weekend. One guy comes over and sits with us. Then I see my three girls. It is a little strange to be socializing with people on board who you were just sitting naked up close and personal with over the week end. They look different with clothes on. I pick my future wife out of the two remaining girls.  I think I can relate to her more even tough the other one will be in my imagination for a while to come. We say our good byes and my future wife even waves a shy good bye.

Off the ferry and down the I-5 we go slows down a bit at Everett but we are home well before five.

I wake up early as usual. On goes the tea. I read some papers I got on the ferry on the way here. I do a couple of crosswords and watch the sun come up over the bay.

Natasha gets up and we head on over to the hot tubs for a soak.

Meet up with some of the people from last night. A nice couple who moved from New Mexico to Seattle a few years ago. The tubs make you feel so relaxed as you look out into the bay. They are great even the cold plunge. After an hour or so we head over to the cafe for breakfast.

Back to the Doe Re Me cabin and get ready to take on the day.

and make it into East sound. We drive all over the roads which we have travelled over the last few years.
Walk around town.

DSC05055.jpg

We eat lunch at the market and back out the road to Doe Bay we go.

Into the hot tubs we go. I am dizzy by the time we get out. It’s great. We go back toDoe Re Mi shower up and leave to go and see the show over at Rosario.

Chris plays the piano and then plays on the huge organ. Through out the show he tells us the story of Robert Moran and Rosario.
This is another good show. I love the history and the music is fine. We buy a cd and head into Eastsound for dinner. We go into
Bilbos for dinner. I get the burrito dairy free. We have eaten here before and like it.

Back along the deer infested dark road we go to the resort. Down to the tubs. They are way over crowded so we go into the sauna.
A great social bunch of people here. People come and go as they over heat. Three girls come in and are in a great mood. They tell stories
from their towns across America. They are now living here in WA. For how long I don’t know. Two of them have been to Ireland. One of which has
been more than once. She has family in Malin Head. I spend more than an hour in there. A quick hot tub, cold plunge and re heat in the tub and
off back to Doe Re Mi we go with visions of the three girls in my head. I make it to sleep fast but late.

Went to work at the Pointe Depot. I grouted the tile on the two decks. That pretty took up most of my day. I got a call from Ben earlier in the day. He wants my presence at Salty’s at noon on Monday next.
I head out of the job and towards home. We will go to Orcas Island tonight. I call Dave the queer on the way to let him know of my visit to Salty’s at noon next Monday. I joke with him about the time he got invited out for a latte.

Pack the jeep and up I-5 we go. The traffic is bad because of a crash past Everett. We stop into Anacortes and go to Gere-a-deli for dinner. Then we make the 6pm ferry across express to Orcas. Chat with a nice man on the ferry. He has lived here for years but was born in England and sailed with the Royal Navy sweeping mines of the coast of Ireland back in 1945.
We dock in and make our way up the road to Eastsound. Pick up some snacks at the supermarket there.
Then out along the dark road towards Doe Bay avoiding deer all along the way. We pull into the Resort http://www.doebay.com/
We get our key for the Doe Re Me cabin taped to the office door. We make our way over and take our stuff in. It is nice and clean.
We put stuff away and relax a bit. Then down to the hot tubs for a soak we go. One of the hot tubs is closed with a cover. That leaves only one more hot tub and a cold water tub. We strip off take the shower and squeeze into the over crowded hot one. Here I sit naked with a whole pile of friends I have not yet met. We have a great ole chat. After a while I take a dip in the cold tub. It is a shock to the body. I sit here for about 10 to 15 minutes then back into the hot one again. From there to the sauna. After all this we make our way back to the cabin tired and very hot despite the cold weather here on the water. Have a small snack and lights out. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Over to Pointe West. Installed towel bars. Shower heads and controls. Shower doors. Went shopping for material.  Went to the Metropolitan Market for lunch. Got off the job later than normal.
We went to Old Country Buffet for dinner as we were up at the Jeep dealer.
I removed the soft top and put back on the hard top on the Jeep when we got home. The winter type weather is coming upon us so now it’s done. I went over to Sam the Jap and Jennies next door to repair the guts of their toilet tank. All done and when Sam asked me how much he owed me. I told him “Nothing we are neighbors”. He tried to push money in my pocket. No no no I told him to take Jenny and Stephen (son) out for a nice dinner. Off I go into the darkness.

Went over to Point West. Only had four hours sleep last night so with the night before I am fecked. Repaired the shower door in 101. Then I had to go up to Adelaide for a investigation. Met Will there and we started. Later on we met Paul for lunch at the Taco Time. Back to the job and had a bit o trouble trying to get the water sprinklers into the planters. A bit of perseverance and we got them in. Finished up my day there.

Couldn’t sleep so well after having a gwal of tea and cookies with Carmen. I watched a dvd with Robert Downey and Val Kilmer called “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”
KKB451.jpg

Not good. Shite in fact.

I slept a little more on the couch. Up I get and off to work I go. I work in Point West. I cut all the trim for the four bathrooms. I install it. It seems like I’m the only one working on the job. Scott is just walking around. Paul comes back to the job with Eric. Paul and I then head off for lunch to Taco Time. I have to call the subs for the job. Take care of the questions for the good Emily. I then begin to install the shower door in 201. Paul finishes it as I do a couple of more chores. Today is Eric’s last day with the company.

I have to go to the dentist after work. Get the teeth looked at. Then head  to pick up Natasha. We pop into PCC for dinner. Then off down to Quest Field to see the Rolling Stones in concert.

We have great seats up front near the stage. Ths Dave Matthews band open up the show at around 6:45pm. I never liked Dave Matthews but his band are a talented bunch of musicians. The dread locked fiddle player leading all of them. I was happy when they finished.

DSC04965.jpg

Next on came the Stones starting off with Jumping Jack Flash. The show only got better from there. Great songs, great interaction with the band members. Keith sang a couple of songs. Dave Matthews joined them on stage too. Fire works and pyros going off through out the night. I was so happy to have been there. We drove Robert and Nellie home to their car at the Park and Ride.
